While most people assume it is the responsibility of adults to provide a play environment for children, this presentation will focus on real play and how children, by nature's design, spontaneously engage in play.
The responsibility for adults is to understand how play happens, where play happens and the why play needs to happen and how it enriches our lives physically, emotionally, spiritually, cognitively and creatively. The Conditions for Growing Wiser and their connection to play along with the implication of not playing as children will be explored.
Real play is essential to development as a contributor to the well-being of all young children. The presenters' concern regarding the possibility of society's having gone too far past remembering how to play and why it is crucial to our survival as a species will be discussed. Images of the Roseville Community Preschool to be included.
